Second Go Around Part 2

Hi

As I mentioned before, I was involved in network marketing about a decade ago for 3 years or so. I tried very hard to recruit people and build a downline. It was hard. The cost to join was $199, not inexpensive then or now. Also, you were required to get 20 people to switch their long distance phone service from AT&T, MCI and Sprint ( mostly AT&T ) to an unknown company. At first it seemed like a simple task but after asking every relative, friend and neighbor I could and only getting maybe 10 say yes it was a letdown. Very frustrating. My own mother and sister and brothers said no way. I kept trying and got 20 eventually and kept them for a while.

I eventually quit because I was spending way to much effort and money and not getting anything back.

So what has changed? Why have I been more successful this time around and why did I come back again after saying I would never do another MLM?

A major reason is because of the internet.

I don't need to ask my friends, family and neighbors. Certainly you can, but I pretty much prefer not to in this second time around. I can recruit customers and affiliates online.

Because of the internet this is a completely different industry now. Their are so many options available now. So many tools and training. Learning more about the internet marketing industry has been an incredible experience and I am convinced there is more opportunities out their now than ever before. But just like in the past, you need to work hard, study, learn and take action. Maybe even take a risk here and there.

The traffic exchanges are something that seems to have a separate community of there own. These are websites where the people really interested in showing and looking at the online business opportunities are converging. You get a feeling for what is out there but you don't really see everything. You can't there is too much. But certain internet businesses seem to become regulars on the exchanges.

Yes there are great differences between now and 10 years ago. Most for the better in my opinion.

Best regards,

Tim Phelan

Sunday Evening Post: Multiple Streams

This is my second go around in the network marketing. Actually, now it is also called net marketing, affiliate marketing, e-commerce etc... When I first tried network marketing about 10 years ago it did not involve the internet at all. It was a technolgy driven company though. I did the late great Excel Communications business. A long distance service that grew from scratch to a $2 billion company in about 10 years! Totally through network marketing. They were one of the all-time great success stories in MLM. Then 8 years later they went bankrupt. So many people who spent so much time and effort, years of their lives were left with nothing. The promise of long term residual income became just a memory for all the Excel reps.

That is why I strongly believe in multiple streams of income. In this second go around I have joined quite a few businesses and am pushing the ones I believe in and are working. I will not just do one business and trust the owners with my future.

Multiple streams is the way to go now days. In the past people in network marketing usually just stayed with one company. Because of the internet and what happened to Excel and other companies, these days it is more common for people to try more than one company at a time. In the past some companies would not allow their affiliates to do other network marketing companies. For companies to do that now just wouldn't make sense or work very well.

I will continue to keep trying different businesses and see what works. I know one guy who has 32 companies he does at once. He made $144,000 in the last 9 months of last year! I am about half way their now. We both do this full time and I wouldn't suggest someone do this if they have a job and are trying to earn some extra money. Maybe just a couple, but the philosophy is the same. Keep trying things, without spending more than you can afford, until you find what works.

Some people say you can't do that many affiliate companies. There are only so many hours in a day. I say why not. Why not hire someone to do one of your businesses? Or more than one? That is what I will do soon. It is just like any other business if you want it to be. Once it gets to a certain size you can hire someone to help. This isn't common because most people think of these internet or network marketing businesses as a one person business. But why? You can amke it any size you want once you start making money.

Premiere Blog

Hi Everyone.

This is my very first post on my own blog. It is 12:25 am and I couldn't sleep so I decided to create a blog of my own. I was planning to start one someday because one of my many online businesses has three websites. One is for the Affiliate Showcase Affiliate business. At this website you can pick from over three thousand affiliate opportunities. The second website is for a niche market. And the third is for a blog about the niche market website. I have been with this company for over a month and I haven't really done anything because of a few reasons. One reason is that I can't decide on what the niche market should be and therefor I can't start a blog about nothing.

Well maybe you can start a blog about nothing. Seinfeld was a TV show about nothing, so here I go.

Actually this blog will be loosely centered around my daily internet business successes, ideas, goals, mistakes, earnings, downline success stories, tips, inspirational thoughts, replies from readers, hunches and maybe some thoughts about what is going on in my life and the world.

Perhaps nobody will care and maybe I will have to pay to get visiters, but I am going to do this anyways.

To our success,
Tim Phelan

PS... Here is that URL for Affiliate Showcase http://www.AffiliateShowcase.com/?51548 I will get this one going someday. I actually have some good ideas about what to do with it, including building a niche market website and making it pofitable and then selling it on E-Bay. Then do it over and over. Perhaps it would be hard to sell if it would be a real good money maker.
